Privacy policy
Privacy matters in real life.
How Stood Up handles information for nearby discovery, meeting requests, messaging, verification, and safety.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
StoodUP operates the Stood Up service from Ontario, Canada. For privacy inquiries, personal information requests, or complaints, please contact our Privacy Officer at support@stoodup.co.
2. Information we process
Depending on the features you use, we process account identifiers and contact details (including email); profile details such as name, age/date of birth, photo, gender, city and languages; availability and selected activities; location information needed to find nearby users; meetup requests and their places; chat text and images; verification submissions and review outcomes; support inquiries; reports, blocks and related evidence; push-device tokens; and technical and security records.
3. Why we process information
- Provide authentication, accounts, profile and availability settings.
- Support nearby discovery, meeting requests, accepted-meetup chat, and notifications.
- Process verification requests and respond to reports, fraud, abuse, and safety incidents.
- Provide customer support, account deletion, service maintenance, security, and legal compliance.
Where applicable, we seek the consent required for sensitive data and permissions. We do not claim to sell your personal information.
4. Location and nearby discovery
Stood Up processes location information to help members find nearby available people and coordinate meetups. Depending on the feature and your selections or permissions, this may include device coordinates, a selected city and region, a meetup location, and distance information.
For availability-based nearby discovery, our backend rounds latitude and longitude to three decimal places before storing a temporary discovery location. Other members may see an approximate distance; we do not intentionally display the stored coordinates themselves to other members. Rounding reduces precision but does not make location information anonymous.
When you stop your availability through the app, our backend deletes your temporary discovery location. A separate automated cleanup runs every five minutes to remove discovery locations for inactive or expired availability. Meeting-location information and related safety records may be handled separately from temporary availability coordinates.
You can stop being available and manage location permissions through your device settings. Nearby discovery and meeting-place searches may not function as intended without appropriate location information. Mapbox and Geoapify may process location information where their services are used.
5. Messages, images, verification and reports
We process chat messages, shared images, identity-verification submissions and review outcomes, and reports to operate the service and investigate potential safety violations. Images uploaded through supported app features may be re-encoded to reduce embedded metadata.
Identity-verification images are subject to a configured 30-day retention and cleanup workflow. Specific deletion timing may depend on successful execution of that workflow. Reports may preserve relevant messages or image evidence for investigation, including after the original content or account has been removed, when justified and permitted by law.
6. Service providers and transfers
We use Supabase for authentication, database services, storage and backend functions; Resend for transactional email; Mapbox and Geoapify for maps, places and location-related features; Expo for push-notification services; and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android push-message delivery. The public website uses Vercel for hosting and may use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect forms against automated abuse. Naming Firebase Cloud Messaging does not mean that Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics is enabled.
Our service providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, according to their service operations and applicable safeguards.
7. Account deletion and retention
You can request account deletion through the app or the account-deletion page. Our deletion workflow removes the account, associated profile information, and ordinary uploaded images, subject to relevant exceptions.
Temporary availability coordinates are deleted when you stop being available, and inactive or expired discovery locations are checked by automated cleanup every five minutes. Identity-verification images are subject to a configured 30-day cleanup workflow. Other information, such as meeting details, messages, support requests, reports, preserved safety or moderation evidence, security records and provider backups, may have different retention periods depending on service needs, safety investigations, backup cycles and applicable legal obligations.
Deleting an account does not necessarily immediately erase all preserved moderation evidence, security records or backup copies. We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required or permitted by law. For questions about a specific record or a deletion request, contact support@stoodup.co.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on applicable Canadian or U.S. law, you may request access to or correction of personal information, withdraw certain consents, request deletion, and seek information about our handling of your data. Some rights have legal exceptions. Contact support@stoodup.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Security and children
We use access controls, account protections, and moderation safeguards designed to protect data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Stood Up is intended only for adults aged 18 or older. If we learn that a minor has registered, we may disable the account and take appropriate steps to remove the data.
10. Website security, updates and complaints
Our website may process technical requests, including information used to investigate suspicious activity, and use Cloudflare Turnstile to help limit automated abuse. We may amend this policy and provide notice where required. For questions, privacy requests or complaints, contact support@stoodup.co. We will review privacy complaints and respond as required by applicable law. You may also contact an applicable privacy regulator, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, where appropriate.
